LOVE
Love’s real meaning and purpose is being lost in today’s society. I would dare to say both in the world system and also in the church. God’s Love creates courage, resilience, faith and good character toward all mankind. The world’s expression is “Love is Love” so anything goes; there is no standard.
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, the pride of life is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but the who does the will of God abides forever. I john 2:15-17
The world system pushes a love that can be any kind of relationship as long as you just “call It love.” It creates a weak emotional kind of character that is really uncertain of what it believes and moves through life on total feelings. It is love that worships self and seeks to satisfy the flesh at any cost. The bible calls it lasciviousness which means an unbridled sexual desire, often accompanied by shamelessness, lewdness, and a disregard for sexual purity and decency. It undermines human dignity, and Gods pan for human relationships. The world calls this love. Believers must guard their hearts from this spirit creeping into their lives.
The truth is God is Love! God is the origin of Love! He loves us, His creation, so much that He would give His only son to die for the sins of every human being who would receive that truth. Jesus is truth! He embodied truth. His love was truth, it was pure, strong, purposed and without favoritism. He was not afraid of pain or persecution, suffering for a cause, or enduring for a greater cause. Much of Christianity has so watered down the real meaning of walking in love. Love is not living by any other standard other than the word of God. It does not create a passive mixture or compromise what is right and what is wrong to make peace or avoid trouble. It is not a love that cowers or bends the truth because it is not popular. God’s love has a modesty that is hard to find today even in the church.
God’s love is so much higher than ours, so much deeper, so much wiser that it can only be experienced by having His own Spirit born within us. We can only discern by His own Spirit within us what and how high or wide or long His love will go. God’s love has eternal purpose and even in His judgement He loves in order to give people mercy and save them from an eternal darkness.
Finally, my reason for writing this word is that we, disciples of Christ, must not allow the world system to give us weak standards to guide our lives. We cannot allow weak fearful ways of self-protection or self-gratifying love to creep into our lives. We are to be bold and courageous warriors of truth. Are we standing for what is the pure truth of the word. Do we live with a surrender to the inner voice of God in us or is our conscience seared from so much compromise and mixture. We have to live by the pure word of God in every single area of our lives. You cannot have genuine love without pure truth. Love can be hard, Love can be painful and even be hurtful, but it has an end purpose to save and perfect. I just feel deeply that believers must search their hearts and lives on this matter of what is truly means to walk in the love of God. Janee
